Costs and Enrollment Timing
Your Medigap Open Enrollment Period begins the month you’re 65 and enrolled in Part B and lasts for six months. During this window, you can get any Medigap plan without answering health questions. After that, you may need to go through medical underwriting in most states. Premiums vary by state, age, and tobacco use.
MEDICARE SUPPLEMENT VS. MEDICARE ADVANTAGE
Medigap gives you maximum flexibility and lower out-of-pocket costs for services, but comes with higher premiums and separate prescription coverage (Part D).
